ROSEVILLE, CA - A Roseville grandfather is out on bail Monday after he was arrested Monday for possession of child pornography.

Daniel McGrath, 58, was arrested after police seized child pornography on his computer and VHS tapes from his home, according to court documents.

McGrath's attorney, Mark Reichel said the evidence dates back 20 years, which is the reason the judge issued bail for his client.
Detectives were investigating the suspicious death of McGrath's granddaughter, 2-year old McKinley Wilder, when they stumbled across the child pornography in McGrath's Roseville home on Friday. According to court documents, McGrath admitted to having child pornography on his computer dating back years ago.

According to the report, McGrath said "he was going to delete the stuff just last week." McGrath also told investigators he did not distribute the material and it was from a user group from years ago.

A VHS tape was seized from the home showed hidden camera footage of nude victims in bedrooms. There was also footage of adult women undressing. It appeared to be taken without the women knowing there were cameras.

On Monday, Reichel said he still has to review all the evidence. He said the evidence is anywhere from 18 to 20 years old, which makes it a bailable offense.

"We're gonna have our own expert take a look at this computer very closely, to get down to the truth, the reality of what's really on these computer and hard drives and these discs," Reichel said.

No one has been charged in the death of McKinley Wilder. Her mother was initially arrested because the child was found dead in her care, but she was later released.

According to McKinley's father Mark Wilder's attorney, his client is filing a restraining order against Daniel McGrath for protection of his 5-year old daughter.

Daniel McGrath's next court hearing is set for June 4.
