STOCKTON, CA - Two people were arrested after apparently getting into a shootout with prostitutes who stole their iPhones.

Stockton police responded to a motel on the 600 block of North Wilson Way around 8:24 a.m. after getting calls of shots fired.

Stockton police said the two suspects, Cesar Salmeron, 28, and Jasiel Salmeron, 25, went to the motel to confront the prostitutes who, they said, stole their iPhones. When they got to the room, the suspects fired a round into the door.

The prostitutes inside the room returned fire and hit Jasiel Salmeron, Stockton police said. Both suspects fled the scene after the shooting.

Stockton police arrested Cesar Salmeron when he returned to the motel.

Jasiel Salmeron showed up at a local hospital where he was arrested, Stockton police said. He is waiting for surgery.

Both suspects were arrested for assault with a deadly weapon and negligent discharge of a firearm.
