STOCKTON, CA - Two 18-year-old cousins, who police described as gang members, were arraigned on murder charges in San Joaquin County Superior Court Tuesday.
Angel Baca, the alleged gunman, and his cousin Steven, are accused of killing 48-year-old Randal Valdivia last Thursday morning in downtown Stockton.
The time of day and location of the violence shocked many.
"It was brazen conduct by gang members in San Joaquin County - an attack in the early morning on a busy street in downtown Stockton, two blocks from the Hall of Justice," said prosecutor Tori Verber.
Bail for Steven Baca, accused of being an accessory to murder, was set at $850,000. Angel Baca's bail was set at nearly $3 million.
