Two arrested for Modesto home invasion

Modesto, Ca - Modesto police arrested two and are looking for a third suspect involved in a Modesto early morning home invasion.

According to Lt. Rick P. Armendariz, police were called to a residence in the 600 block of Tully Rd at approximately 1:14 a.m. Monday morning. The victim told the officers that he was home with his wife and daughters, when two men kicked in his front door. The men were described as hispanic men wearing masks and carrying handguns.

During the robbery the victim was struck in the face with a handgun and suffered minor injuries.The robbers stole some property before fleeing.

Later Monday morning detectives were able to capture two of the alleged suspects, when a detective started following a suspiciously driven vehicle in the area of Sycamore and Smith Avenues. Three suspects fled from the vehicle, additional officers were called in and a pursuit began.

Upon investigating the vehicle, police discovered the stolen property from the earlier robbery.

The first suspect to be arrested was 19-year-old Modesto resident Alex Rodriguez. He was found in an alley near Sycamore Avenue.

The second suspect who was arrested was identified as 19-year-old Modesto resident David Towles. He was found hiding in the backyard of a residence by officers including Officer Glenn Graves and his K-9 partner "Kai".

The third suspect who fled from the car, and was described as a hispanic man in his early 20's, had not been found at the time of this posting. 

Towles was arrested for home invasion, possession of stolen property, and gang enhancement. Rodriguez was arrested for home invasion, possession of stolen property, gang enhancement and parole violation.

Both suspects were booked into the Stanislaus County Jail.
