Stanislaus County sheriff's Deputy Robert Paris
MODESTO, CA - Stanislaus County sheriff's Deputy Robert Paris, killed in the line of duty last week in Modesto, was laid to rest Friday in Stanislaus County.
Gov. Brown and Attorney General Kamala Harris attended the Modesto service, as did nearly 3,000 other people and about 2,000 public safety employees from around California.
Paris, 53, was killed while serving an eviction notice April 12 by a man who ambushed him, another deputy and a locksmith. The locksmith, Glendon Engert, 35, was also killed.
Paris was remembered fondly by a long string of co-workers, friends and family for his hard work, love of the outdoors, and great friendship.
