SACRAMENTO - Heavy rain and slick road conditions on Sacramento highways possibly contributed to numerous wrecks Thursday morning, one of which resulted in a fatality.
According to California Highway Patrol reports, four wrecks occurred on northbound Interstate 5. In one, a man driving a sedan spun out and hit a tree near Florin Rd., killing him in the process.
Two other wrecks were reported on I-5 north at Sutterville Rd. and Richards Blvd. A crash also occurred on I-5 southbound at Richards Blvd. No information was provided on injuries or causes in these incidents.
A fourth crash occurred on Highway 80 westbound at Northgate Blvd. No information was provided on injuries or cause of the wreck.
Another wreck was reported around 6:20 a.m. on the Capital City Freeway when a driver rolled off the the roadway, according to the CHP. No information was provided on the driver's condition.
Traffic is congested in all areas near these incidents.
