RIO LINDA, CA - Three girls were injured when their 1992 Toyota Corolla hit a tree and power pole on Curved Bridge Road in Rio Linda around 7:27 a.m.

Officer Liz Dutton of the California Highway Patrol said the car wrapped around the pole on impact, trapping all three girls inside.

The unlicensed driver, an 18-year-old girl, was the first freed from the wreck and taken to a hospital, Dutton said.

The front-seat passenger was thrown into the back seat upon impact. She was the second extricated and transported.

The rear-seat passenger was trapped in the car for more than two hours before rescue personnel were able to get her out and take her for medical care, Dutton said.

All three girls are believed to be students at Rio Linda High School, said Dutton.

According to Dutton, none of the girls had any visible signs of injuries or blood loss.

Dutton said the initial investigation revealed the driver may have been traveling too fast, but the CHP will continue to investigate the cause of the wreck.
