ELK GROVE, CA - A pursuit beginning in Nevada County came to a close in Elk Grove Thursday morning when Sacramento County sheriff's deputies arrested a man suspected of stabbing another man to death in Lake of the Pines.
According to John Kropp of the Nevada County Sheriff's Department, multiple 911 calls were made around 12:30 a.m., reporting a disturbance at a property on the 1100 block of Lake Shore North. When officers arrived, they discovered Ryan Roth, 33, had been stabbed numerous times.
Deputies put out a description of the assailant and his vehicle which was later spotted by Placer County sheriff's deputies. The deputies pursued the vehicle and Sacramento County sheriff's deputies and California Highway Patrol officers joined the chase.
The pursuit continued through multiple cities before finally coming to a conclusion on Highway 99 at Calvine Road in Elk Grove where the individual was taken into custody, Kropp said.
According to Kropp, the state Department of Justice was called upon to help process evidence, per standard procedures on major crimes in that county.
