CERES, CA - An 18-year-old pregnant woman is home after being held captive and beaten for nine days by the man she was dating and his friends.
On Tuesday, Ceres police arrested her boyfriend, Richard Garibay, 21, and his friends Armando Osegueda, 20, and Jose Osegueda, 35, police spokesperson Jose Berber said.
On Jan. 27, Garibay found a message on the victim's phone that upset him and began beating the woman, hitting her in the face and body. Berber said during the beating, Garibay got a handgun and threatened to kill her with it.
The woman told police during the beating one of Garibay's friends came into the room and they discussed how they were going to dispose of her body. They then bound the woman up and continued to threaten to kill her with a knife and attempted to strangle her, Berber said.
On Feb.4, when the woman asked Garibay if she could leave the home, he let her go, Berber said. Later that day, the woman's family took her to the hospital for treatment and called police. Berber said the woman had bruises and burns from a cigarette lighter.
Garibay was arrested early Tuesday morning in court, where he appeared for an unrelated charge. Around 11:54 a.m. police served a search warrant at 1757 Richland Avenue where they arrested Armando Osegueda and Jose Osegueda, Berber said.
Police also found a 5.7caliber FN handgun, which can fire bullets capable of penetrating body armor, stolen large screen TVs, meth, evidence of drug sales and cash.
Garibay was arrested for spousal abuse, false imprisonment and making terrorist threats. Armando Osegueda was arrested for making terrorist threats and for being an accessory to the crimes committed by Garibay. Jose Osegueda was arrested for drug possession for sale, drug possession, and possession of stolen property.
