SACRAMENTO - Sacramento Police arrested a man on Saturday who allegedly robbed a Wells Fargo as well as claimed to have a bomb.

The suspect, who has been identified as Daniel Hegwood, walked into the Wells Fargo Bank in the 300 block of Capitol Avenue around 1:15 p.m. Hegwood approached a teller and informed them that he had a bomb inside of the fast food bag he was carrying.

Hegwood demanded money and then fled the bank on foot with what police says was a substantial amount of cash.

Hegwood was quickly arrested at a nearby parking garage, said Sgt. Andrew Pettit.

As officers attempted to take Hegwood into custody he resisted and told officers that he had an explosive device in his backpack.

Bomb technicians were called to the scene and were able to determine that there were no explosives inside the backpack or the bag. Upon further inspection two apple pies were found inside of the fast food bag, said Pettit.

Hegwood was booked into custody on charges of robbery and resisting arrest.
