VACAVILLE, CA - Members of the Vacaville Police and Fire Associations invited residents to participate in a 29-mile walk from Vallejo to Vacaville on Saturday to celebrate the life of fallen Vallejo Police Officer and Vacaville resident Jim Capoot.

Attendees were invited to walk, run, form a relay team, or bike the 29-mile route. A detailed map was available with predetermined stopping points marked.

"Folks can jump in or out at any point, based on their abilities or other time commitments. We just want people to show up," said Vacaville Police Lt. Ian Schmutzler. "We are walking rain or shine."

"This amazing event will reflect on how Jim lived, not how he died", says Officer Julie Bailey, one of the event coordinators. "We want people to walk with us to show that it is not acceptable - ever - to have an officer killed in the line of duty in Solano County. We are a community who works and lives together and we will not tolerate this violence. We will celebrate the good and stand up against the bad."

All proceeds from the Jim Capoot Charge On Walk are going to the Capoot Family Trust.
