SACRAMENTO, CA - An 8-year-old boy barricaded himself inside a classroom at Maple Elementary School in Sacramento around 10:14 a.m. Friday, according to Sacramento police.

Sgt. Andrew Pettit said the boy blocked the door with a bookcase and was seen throwing chairs and breaking out windows. He was later removed from the classroom and taken into police custody.

Pettit said police would determine whether or not to take the boy to juvenile hall or let the school determine his punishment. According to Pettit, the decision would depend on whether it could determined the boy knew he was doing wrong.

Police did not know why the boy was so upset, said Pettit.
