ROSEVILLE, CA - Two women accused of using stolen credit card information to buy thousands of dollars worth of VISA gift cards from Placer County Target stores Tuesday were caught with the aid of suspicious store personnel.

The suspects,  Bailey Lucas, 21, of Hayward and Monique Smith, 38, of Brentwood are suspected of targeting Targets in Lincoln, Auburn and Roseville, said Dena Erwin with the Placer County Sheriff's Department.

Security staff at an Auburn Target became suspicious of the activities of Lucas and contacted sheriff's deputies, Erwin said. When Lucas' purchase was denied, she ran from the store and security followed her, noting a description of her car and telling deputies.

Deputies caught up with Lucas' car in the area of Interstate 80 and Highway 65 that afternoon and pulled her over.

Erwin said deputies found more than 70 VISA gifts cards in the vehicle. She said investigators were making contact with the Florida victims of the credit cards that Lucas and Smith allegedly skimmed.
