NORTH HIGHLANDS, CA - The Sacramento County Sheriff's Department received a call of shots fired in the 7400 block of Danfield Circle around 3 a.m. on Wednesday.
Upon arrival, deputies discovered two cars on fire.
Fire crews were called to the scene and extinguished the flames. An arson investigator was then called out to determine the cause, but was unable to assert whether the fires were set intentionally upon preliminary investigations.
Deputies said the original call of shots fired were unfounded and likely the sound of the car tires bursting due to heat.
No suspicious people were seen in the area.
