SACRAMENTO COUNTY, CA - A teen boy is in critical condition after being shot in the back Monday evening in a residential area in south Sacramento.
The victim and two other teenage boys were talking on Crystal River Way when a dark, American made pick-up truck pulled up next to them, Sacramento County Sheriff's Sgt. Tim Gorham said.
Two suspects, one with a baseball bat, the other with a rifle, got out of the truck and approached the three teens. Gorham said the three teens tried to run from the scene, but the victim was shot in back shot.
The suspects then fled the scene of the shooting. Gorham said the victim was taken to Kaiser South Medical Center for treatment.
The motive of the shooting is unclear, but Gorham said it appears to be gang related.
The suspects are described boys in their late teens, Gorham said.
Deputies interviewed multiple witnesses and continue to investigate the shooting.
