STOCKTON, CA - A Stockton woman was assaulted by six men at her apartment complex in the Village Oak District Tuesday night, but police say it was her attackers who ended up worse for wear following the confrontation.

Stockton police said the 34-year-old woman was in the courtyard of her complex when she noticed a man trying to get into the building's locked gate. The lady recognized the man as a possible suspect in a prior area burglary and confronted him.

The man called over his five associates who joined in attacking the woman, said police. According to reports, one of the men hit the woman in the head with a large object, causing a cut. She was also punched multiple times.

Police said the woman then stabbed one of the men in the chest and arm in self defense.

The men fled the scene following the confrontation, but the stabbed man only made it as far as the 5900 block of Lorraine Ave. before needing to call emergency personnel due to his wounds, police said.

Responding crews transported the man to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police performed a 'show up' with the victim and all of her detained suspected attackers. The woman identified all six individuals she claimed beat her.

Arrested were: Thomas Randle, 18, of Stockton, Jerry Wilson, 35, of Stockton, a 17 year old man and three 13 year old boys.  All were charged with assault with a deadly weapon and conspiracy to commit a felony.
