ARDEN ARCADE, CA - A man shot during a confrontation with a Sacramento County deputy was booked into jail Tuesday afternoon.
Lonnie Hammett, 23, is charged with resisting arrest, possession of stolen property, unlawful possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and parole violation, Deputy Jason Ramos said.
Hammett was arrested Sunday after a deputy stopped him and a juvenile on the 2700 block of Fulton Avenue for questioning. Hammett then tried to punch the deputy and ran from the scene while the juvenile remained at the location, Ramos said.

When the deputy caught up with Hammett, he allegedly punched the deputy repeatedly in the head and face, Ramos said. The deputy then pulled his gun and shot Hammett in the leg and abdomen.
Hammett was taken to UC Davis Medical Center for treatment, and then cleared for incarceration.
Hammett is being held on an $80,000 bail.
According to Ramos, the Sheriff's Homicide Bureau and the Professional Standards Division will conduct an investigation.
The deputy involved in the incident will be placed on administrative leave during the investigation, per standard Sheriff's Dept. procedures.
