SACRAMENTO, CA - A man released last month from jail has been arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting a Sacramento woman during a burglary.

Aaron Suggs, 29, was booked into custody Monday night. Sacramento police Officer Laura Peck said Suggs is accused of grabbing the victim as she went to close her door and attacking her.

The assault took place Monday morning on E Street.

Following the attack, Suggs ransacked the victim's house and fled, Peck said.

Police identified Suggs from their investigation and patrol officers located him at 7th and I streets a little after 6 Monday night.

Several items belonging to the victims were found in Suggs' possession, Peck said.

According to Sacramento County Jail records, Suggs was booked on suspicion of forcible rape, penetration with a foreign object, kidnapping for ransom, first and second degree robbery and burglary. Bail was set at $1 million.

According to Sacramento Police, Suggs was on probation and had been recently released from the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation as part of the Post-Release Offender Program and sent to Sacramento County to serve probation.

CDC Spokesman Luis Patino said Suggs, who has a criminal history of drug-related offenses, was discharged on December 8and referred to Post-Release Community Supervision (PRCS) upon release. Patino said Suggs was not an early release and served his sentence.

According to probation spokesman Alan Seeber, Suggs did not report to to the PRCS program after his release from prison. An arrest warrant was then issued for Suggs. He was arrested on December 27 on the warrant and for providing false information to an officer. He served flash incarceration.

On January 6, Suggs reported to his PRCS officer. He told the officer he was homeless and living with friends, Seeber said.

Suggs was supposed to check-in again with his PRCS officer on January 13. However, he was arrested on the sexual assault charges.
