SACRAMENTO, CA - Daniel Karapetyan, the third of four men wanted in connection with a 2003 murder, was extradited from Belgium to Sacramento Wednesday.

According to a Sacramento Police Department news release, detectives believe Karapetyan, Gagik Karapetyan, Ararat Manukyan and Yegizar Karapetyan got into an argument with the victim.  The release said the argument became physical and resulted in a fatal stabbing.

Gagik Karapetyan and Manukyan were arrested and charged with murder in September of 2003, but Daniel and Yegizar Karapetyan fled the country, according to the release.

The FBI traced both Daniel and Yegizar Karapetyan to various countries, including Armenia, Russian, France and Belgium. Then, in November 2011, FBI agents were contacted by Belgian authorities who had arrested Daniel Karapetyan on charges unrelated to the 2003 murder, as stated in the release.

He was extradited to Sacramento on Wednesday.

Yegizar Karapetyan remains at large. The police department asked anyone with information on his whereabouts to contact Crime Alert at (916) 443-HELP (4357) or text in a tip to 274637 (CRIMES). Enter SACTIP followed by the tip information. Callers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
