Sacramento County sheriff's deputies were dispatched to a call of a man threatening to shoot someone a little after 10 p.m. on the 11300 block of Amalgam Way. Deputies arrived to find Gonzales face-down. He had been shot.
Anthony Vigil, 46, was arrested in the murder. Sheriff spokesman Deputy Jason Ramos said Vigil was found nearby in front of a business with a shotgun which detectives believe was used in the shooting.
What led up to the shooting hasn't been made public.
Vigil did not enter a plea to a charge of murder at his first court hearing Tuesday in Sacramento County Superior Court. He was appointed an attorney and the hearing was continued to Oct. 18.
