SACRAMENTO, CA - The $50 million plan for a four-year renovation of the Community Center Theater, part of the Sacramento Convention Center complex, may be running into a snag.
Think Big Sacramento, the committee that, last week, laid out funding options for a sports and entertainment complex in the city railyards, said the funding for the theater renovation could be used to build the new arena.
"We have to look at the greater good for the city," Think Big Sacramento's Jeremiah Jackson said. "We need to get the arena built and explore every funding source we can."
But those in the arts said if funding for the renovation goes away, so will the Broadway season.
"The Community Center Theater needs a renovation to add more seating and make it A.D.A. complaint, without it, there will be no Broadway season," Broadway Sacramento's Executive Director Richard Lewis said.
