MARYSVILLE, CA - Highway 70 north of Marysville has reopened after being closed because of a fatal crash this afternoon.
One person was killed and at least one other was injured in a crash between a pickup and a car near Woodruff Lane, according to the California Highway Patrol.
At about 12:15 p.m., a driver in a Toyota pickup was traveling southbound on 70 coming from Shasta, CHP said. The pick up approached slowing traffic and attempted to avoid it, swerved into the northbound lanes and caused a head on collision with a Mercury Grand Marquis traveling northbound. The driver in the Mercury died at the scene. A female passenger in the Mercury suffered from moderate injuries and was transported.
The driver of the Toyota suffered from moderate injuries and was transported and is expected to make a full recovery.
The highway opened again at about 2:10 p.m.
