FAIRFIELD, CA - When the new Chick-fil-A restaurant in Fairfield opened its doors Thursday morning, there were more than a hundred customers waiting to enter.

Was it that the chicken chompers couldn't wait for their first sandwich at a new location? Possibly.  But, more likely than that, the crowd was there for their chance to win a year's worth of free food.

Men and women camped out for 24 hours before Thursday's 6:30 a.m. opening, hoping to win 52 meal coupons, or one coupon per week over the next year.

70 people were hired as a result of the new restaurant.

With all of Chick-fil-A's restaurant openings around the U.S. in 2011, 5,000 new jobs have been created.

The Fairfield Chick-fil-A is located at 1750 Travis Blvd.
