SACRAMENTO, CA - Many Northern California cities made Allstate's annual list of America's safest driving cities, but none of them are near the top.
The list contains 193 U.S. cities which are ranked according to accident statistics. Sacramento ranks 140, Modesto 91, Stockton 102 and San Francisco 185.
Most larger metropolitan areas don't fare well when it comes to safety and driving because of factors like traffic and busy freeways.
For the second year in a row, Fort Collins, Colorado took top honors as America's safest driving city. According to Allstate's report, the average driver in Fort Collins will experience an auto collision every 14 years, which is 28.6 percent less likely than the national average of 10 years.
Washington D.C. is the lowest ranked city, with on average 4.8 years between accidents for drivers.
