Police at Fillmore Elementary School following principal attack.
STOCKTON, CA - The mother of a student at Fillmore Elementary School has been booked into custody for felony battery and making threats after allegedly striking the principal, according to police.
Pami Gibbs is accused of hitting the first-year principal in the face after her son was told he either had to change the shirt he was wearing or turn it inside out because it did not conform to the school's uniform or dress code, authorities said. The shirt may have had skull images or something similar on it.
After Gibbs was pulled off of the principal, she allegedly lunged toward the principal again, witnesses said, and then fled.
The principal was taken by ambulance to a Stockton hospital where she was expected to fully recover.
Gibbs was found by police officers not long after the 9:30 a.m. assault. She is also looking at several misdemeanors, including commission of a hate crime and failure to register at the school office, according to the booking charges.
The boy was still in school. The fall semester began about a month ago.
