CITRUS HEIGHTS, CA - Citrus Heights police caught two men they suspect of planting an ATM card skimmer device at a local bank, the second time the pair has been arrested in an ATM theft case.
Lt. Gary Hendricks said officers responded when security responsible for monitoring the Chase Bank at the corner of Auburn Boulevard and Old Auburn Boulevard was alerted of tampering with the card reader at the bank's front door at about 1:15 Sunday morning.
Officers found two men walking away from the bank and the bank's card reader replaced with another one, Hendricks said. They also found another card reader and burglary tools near the bank.
Arrested were Armen Babayab, 37, and Norik Havhannisyan, 50. They were booked into custody on suspicion of burglary, grand theft, identification theft, conspiracy and commission of a crime while on bail.
There was a similar incident at a Chase bank in Elk Grove on July 3. Babayab and Havhannisyan were free on bail in that incident in which four people were arrested, according to Elk Grove police.
