More than 6,500 people attended the free event, which ran from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Cesar Chavez Park on 9th and J streets. Many of them arrived early in the afternoon.
Closing the event was the band Tesla who sang two songs.

Fans also heard from Kings head coach Paul Westphal, as well as former Kings players Doug Christie, Bobby Jackson and Scot Pollard. Team owners Joe and Gavin Maloof and Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson also attended.
One week ago, the Maloof family announced they would keep in the Kings in Sacramento at least for the 2011-12 season. Beyond that depends on firm plans for a new sports and entertainment arena, among other considerations.
