In a news release posted on their website, Starbucks said they were offering the free coffee because anyone using reusable cups on a regular basis is helping to reduce everyone's environmental impact on the planet. The company is also offering reduced prices on their travel mugs and tumblers Friday only.
Last year, Starbucks estimated 1.2 million people across the United States and Canada participated in the Earth Day promotion, which they said saved 145 million pounds of paper out of landfills.
