SACRAMENTO, CA. - A Sacramento school helps students with special needs learn more than just the basics.
Sierra School's workability program, Sierra Works, focuses on developing skills for students' lives after graduation.
The program helps build self-confidence, self-esteem and teaches self- sufficiency.
"We probably wouldn't be here, possibly even in school without those teachers," 10th grader Nick Perez said. "For me, I know I'd be probably seriously injured or I'd be in jail right now if it wasn't for this school. I'm just trying to be a great person in society."
Each student in the program must submit an application and interview, just as they would for a real job and each earns minimum wage.
