POLLOCK PINES, CA - Authorities have reopened a Safeway supermarket in Pollock Pines  after it was evacuated early Monday morning on fears a heavy snow load might trigger a roof collapse.

The Safeway is located in the 6400 block of Pony Express Trail, according to the California Department of Foresty in El Dorado County.

The store was closed as a precaution until building inspectors could look at the structure and the snow could be safely removed.

The weight of the heavy snowfall caused other roofs in Pollock Pines to sag, including the Fifty Grand Steakhouse, the Knotty Pine Lanes bowling alley and a True Value hardware store.
