Sheridan Lynn Adams and Jeremy Chavez have wedding at Thunder Valley Casino in Lincoln, Dec. 30, 2010.
LINCOLN, CA - They're a military couple with no money for a fancy wedding. He's about to deploy to Iraq, she's set to return to Afghanistan but they both had leave at the same time, so they decided to come to Placerville so she could meet his parents.
And that's when E4 Specialist Mos (Medic) Jeremy Chavez of the 82nd Airborn and E4 Specialist Mos (Medic) Sheridan Lynn Adams of the 2nd Stricker Calvary Regiment decided now was the time to get married.
Of course, with no real money to spend, the young couple was thinking small.
"We were actually just planning on just doing a small little civil ceremony at the courthouse," said Jeremy.
But that's when his aunt, Cynthia Besson, got the idea to call Thunder Valley. She thought the story just might touch their hearts.
"I had a good feeling they would say 'yes,'" said Besson. "It's a wonderful story, they're out there fighting for our country and I just knew they were going to say 'yes!'"
When casino management heard the request, they thought it was a great story, too -- and they wanted to do it the next day!
Thunder Valley helped to make it happen by throwing in flowers, a special dinner and a honeymoon suite as well as 8,000 potential guests from the slot machines and black jack tables!
Any bride can be expected to get nervous when the big day approaches, so how did Sheridan feel about all this happening so fast?
"Yes," she said, "(It was) very overwhelming considering we had a day to plan. And that includes the dress and everything!"
With their military service up in 2012, the couple plans to come back to California to live. We can probably guess where they'll spend their anniversaries!
