Ricky Ranch Pumpkin Patch
ONLINE: Halloween Fun
ANTELOPE, CA - With Halloween just around the corner, one Sacramento pumpkin farm is gearing up to help local families celebrate the holiday with a totally free festival Saturday.
The Antelope Christian Center is hosting its annual Harvest Fest October 16 starting at Noon.
The event will feature free pumpkins for every child, free food and drinks, free games, free face painting, free hay rides and much more.
All of it free!
According to Pastor Bill Clements with the Antelope Christian Center, volunteers are expecting a larger than usual crowd this year due to economy.
Clements says they are pleased with how many donors stepped up to fill the need.
"Usually we have around 5,000 pumpkins on the farm to give away, but this year we had independent growers step up and donate over 2,000 more, just to make sure every child that comes out walks away with a pumpkin," said Clements.
The farm is run by volunteers and 100-percent community donations. Clements and the ACC have been hosting the Pumpkin Farm since 2002 and have always had an overwhelming response from the community.
"Everyone around here knows the Pumpkin Farm is our big yearly event," said Clements. "We always have people stopping by the center and dropping off checks saying they want to help."
Clements said this year they even had a donor drive down from Reno with a $1000 donation to go toward this year's farm.
The Antelope Pumpkin Farm sits on three acres of land at 4533 Antelope Road in Sacramento County. Although there are over 7,000 pumpkins to choose from, Clements warns to arrive early, because they do go fast.
The event begins at noon and will end when the last pumpkin is picked. For more information and directions you can visit the ACC website by clicking here.
