LOS ANGELES, CA - The latest installment of the 'Harry Potter' films has overpowered 'The Dark Knight' for the #2 Spot on Fandango's Top Advance Ticket-Sellers List.
"Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" eclipsed both "Twilight" and "The Dark Knight" on Fandango's list of Top 10 Advance Ticket-Sellers.
The #1 spot continues to be held by "Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith."
According to Fandango, "Harry Potter 6" currently represents 96% of all ticket sales on their movie ticket purchasing site.
Some additional updates from Fandango:
? More than 3,000 midnight and early morning showtimes for "Harry Potter" were sold out in cities across the country, from Anchorage, Alaska to Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
? On Tuesday, Fandango sustained a rate of selling ten "Harry Potter" tickets per second.
? Theater owners added show times throughout the night, but even 4:00 a.m. showtimes ended up selling out in advance online. "It's rare for any movie to sell out so many of its midnight and early morning showtimes," says Rick Butler, Chief Operating Officer of Fandango.
The website also expects the movie to sell out tickets once it gets its wide release in the IMAX and 3D formats on July 29.
