E3 Impressions: SplitFish

Originally shown to News10 during the 2010 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, gaming peripheral maker SplitFish showcased their unique gaming controllers at the 2010 Electronics Entertainment Expo.

The company's Dual SFX Frag Pro controller gives PS3 gamers something they've been missing compared to their PC counterparts when it comes to FPS titles: the precision control of a mouse. The controller features programmable button mapping and adjustable rapid-fire. The Dual SFX Frag Pro also comes equipped with a built-in rechargeable battery.

The controller has quickly become a favorite of a number of professional gamers including Dennis "zDD" Dozier. According to a company spokesman, Dozier and others played roughly 1000 games of Modern Warfare 2 using the controller and lost only twelve games total against others using the DualShock 2.

SplitFish also had shown another of its unique gaming controllers at E3 this year: the Dual SFX Evolution. It, too, was shown earlier this year at CES and features programmable motion controls (not to be confused with PlayStation Move) as well as an analog stick swap for lefty gamers.

The unorthodox controllers offered by SplitFish truly are something unique. Furthermore, they offer a welcomed alternative to the standard form factor of the DualShock 2 controllers available on the market -- both first- and third-party.
