Celebrating character-based citizenship through film, arts and community dialogue , this annual forum draws citizens of all ages together to recognize recipients of the "Highest Office: Citizen Award." Hosted by News10's Dana Howard, this special event will celebrate the life and contributions of baseball's Branch Rickey. Rickey is best known for hiring the first African-American professional baseball players in the majors, including Jackie Robinson. Having the courage necessary to take responsibility for change, Rickey's character provides a wonderful legacy from which we all can learn.
Our special guest is Rickey's grandson, Branch Rickey III, President of the Pacific Coast Baseball League. Join Branch, students, teachers and community leaders to honor his grandfather's legacy and discuss how we can each live with integrity and personal responsibility. News10 Sports' Ryan Yamamoto will be moderating the panel discussion. The evening also includes a multimedia tribute to Branch Rickey and Jackie Robinson, music, art, dramatic presentations, and dialogue with baseball and community leaders. Join us for an evening of dynamic character building.
