Retro-Bit's Retro Duo Portable handheld gaming consoles.

It's been nearly two decades since the Super Nintendo Entertainment System reigned supreme, but don't tell that to Innex, Inc., who showed the device at the 2012 Consumer Electronics Show.  The company will soon be distributing the Retro Duo Portable (RDP), a handheld gaming console designed to play SNES game cartidges.

Fans of the original 1980's Nintendo Entertainment System video game console shouldn't feel left out, though, as the RDP comes with an adapter that allows the larger 8-bit NES cartridges to be played on the 16-bit handheld.

"In addition to that, you can also play the [SEGA] Genesis games using the RetroGen Adapter," explains Innex's Jenny Rodriguez.

Unlike the included RetroPort Adapter for NES games, the RetroGen Adapter is sold separatly.

For those wanting to play two-player, the RDP has a pair of wired controllers that come included.  The controllers, which are designed to match the RDP have their own look and feel to them.  For those wanting a more authentic SNES feel, the original first-party gamepads can also be used with the RDP.

Distributed by Innex and manufactured by Retro-Bit, the Retro Duo Portable will be available in North America in February of 2012.  The retro gaming device carries an MSRP of $89.99US.
