News10's Sports Reporter and Anchor Ryan Yamamoto returned to Sacramento in November of 2005, after spending two years in San Diego as a Sports Anchor/Reporter. In Southern California he won the Associated Press, RTNA Golden Mike, and Society of Professional Journalist awards for "Best Sports Reporting." And in 2005, he took home an Emmy for his story on a blind high school track star.
Ryan's journalism background comes from the News Department where he spent 9-years covering hard news. He began his career in Columbia, Missouri after graduating from San Francisco State in 1994. He went on to Pocatello, Idaho as a Weekend News Anchor, before landing in Sacramento in 1998.
Ryan is originally from the Bay Area. Which means he grew up as a Raiders and Oakland A's fan. And even though he now covers the Sacramento Kings, he still admits he has a soft spot for the Golden State Warriors. Ryan now calls Sacramento home with his dog "Mika" (chow mix). When he is not working you can find him skiing, boxing, or stuffing his face with sushi ("I like to eat!")
